The diameter of the comet "Elenin" exceeded 200 000 km!!!

A few hours ago, thanks to one of the team members STEREO, Karl Battamsu (Karl Battams), I got the first shots in the format of the original FITS, received on August 1.Several shots were spoiled, but the team believes that will solve this problem at the next session. Adding all the images on the movement of most comets, it was possibleto increase the ratio Singhal / noise ratio. To see the comet more "detail".

So, the first data. The comet has grown. Now the diameter of its outer coma over 200000 km! Of course now we have only snapshots with very low resolution, but they stillallow us to estimate its current size. Let me remind you that the outer coma, it isdischarged gas shell, but not the kernel itself, estimates of the size of which has notchanged. On the left picture you can see the comet itself, as well as the angular size ofthe sun, if it was located at the same distance as the comet. Impressive?
