We saw about the same thing several winters ago. We were looking out our window in the Sangre de Cristo mountains at night over Mt. Blanca Mt Lindsey area. It appeared as a bright star but it was if it were attached to a kite string. It would drop down then shoot back up and swirl around. My husband and daughter both saw it. I have looked in that area several times since but haven't seen it.
