The Toraja are an Indonesian native tribe, who inhabit the island of Sulawesi.Tana Toraja (Land Toraja, where several villages of this ethnic group are grouped) has a natural protection formed by mountains and volcanoes.
Perhaps thanks to this insulation managed to survive one of its most ancient customs, funeral rites related.
This town, partly Christianized, who had to endure persecution by Dutch settlers, has a habit of burying their dead in "floating cemeteries" (after passing a mummification process involved in having the body in the home by about 3 days, which is still considered part of the living) located in the nearby mountains, burying the dead babies within trees, or just the dead adults, build them small traditional houses where they let them water, flowers or various taxes.
